Specifications
There are several issues involved in dereeling large diameter wire. Tapered cone
dereelers designed for small diameter wire do not work properly with large diameter wire.
The wire is too stiff for normal de-reeling through the small cone exit. Cone dereelers
create a twist in the large wire and can create wire feeding and weld tracking problems.
The Kentex Dereeler allows the wire drum to rotate, eliminating wire twist by
reversing the drum wire installation process. Smooth wire feed reduces stress
on the wire feeder and extends wire feeder life. The smoother wire feed creates a more
stable weld arc. The dereeler includes an automatic drum brake system to reduce the
chance of wire backlash within the drum.
Dereeler Construction
The dereeler is constructed of heavy structural steel sections. Four base legs contain
leveling bolts to allow easy placement on uneven floors. The dereeler provides space
for materials handling chain or straps under the speed feed drum support. The drum
can be placed on the dereeler with the supporting straps or chains clearing the
vertical supports and allowing room for strap/chain removal. Angled outer supports
allow easy positioning on the dereeler base and maintain rotary alignment with the
base.
Dereeler Rotation Supports
The dereeler rotates on a double, tapered roller-bearing spindle assembly. The
bearings include grease seals and are re-greasable.
Braking Action
Braking action is provided by an electric solenoid disc brake assembly. The solenoid
must be field wired to the Lincoln NA-3 or NA-5 weld controller to provide braking
action in conjunction with wire feeder operation. When the wire feed motor operates,
the brake automatically releases and automatically reapplies when wire feeder
operation stops. Each dereeler includes a 20' long control wire for connection to the
Lincoln welder control. The Lincoln controller includes a
pre-punched electrical connection and
knock out, allowing easy wiring and connection to
the internal wiring terminals.

The dereeler comes in a gloss black powder coat.
